This section of my site allows me to keep family, friends,
and other viewers up to date on projects I am currently involved in. A powerful feature
of the News is that readers can give feedback on any of my posts by clicking the word "COMMENTS" at the bottom of each post. Also, be sure to check out my new forum for updates and critiques on artwork from myself and others!
Hey everyone. Well, the LFdrawpolyTool is really doing well throughout the community, so, I thought I would put some icing on the ol' cake by generating a quick demo video showing how I use the tool as well as why I made it. Hopefully some of you will find it useful. I plan to put the video in the resources section eventually but for now heres the link...
In other news, I am in the process of updating the ol' site here and there...nothing big just updates to the Resources section as well as the CG section so be sure to keep checking in for updates (and of course pardon my dust while I am working on the links...may be kinda screwy in those sections for the next couple days). Last but not least, Toms book just arrived about 3 hours ago and man is it nice. The WORM, the trolley, the rig diagrams, and everything else turned out great. Shan's got quite a bit of stuff in there and so does Roger...all in all I am stoked for everyone including the man himself, Tom. Congrats man, great book! Well, thats all I got. Take care and as always thanks for stopping in!
Well, it hasn't been very long since my last update, however, I have some exciting new stuff to share! First off, Anna starts her new job at tweak films next week! Her and I are of course very excited. She is finishing up a couple of commercials this week and then off to the movies!! She rocks! In other news, as promised I posted 2 new modeling tools (mel scripts) I developed for the San Francisco project. The first one, LFcutpolyTool, does just what it might sound like...it cuts polys. Basically you select the edgeloop/s or faces that you want to cut from the mesh and run the script. Sure beats duplicating the mesh and deleting those faces you don't want (yes Adam I used to do that too and so did everybody else...until now!). Last but not least, the most significant script, LFdrawpolyTool. Much like the other script (and all of my scripts for that matter) it too does exactly what its title explains...it draws polys, but this is no ordinary poly script. LFdrawpolyTool draws in all quads AND it has a "resurfacing" feature which allows a user to draw an all-quad-mesh accross the surface of another on-the-fly! As some of you may know, this is a very common task within the visual effects industry for generating computer based models from scan data of existing props, actors, bigatures, etc. Other scripts and programs that do the same thing are EXTREMELY expensive, so, yes, this is a very big tool to just be offering for free, but hey, what can I say....I love this stuff! Both tools can currently be found in their respective support/release thread within the forum by clicking on their names within this post. Well, thats all I got for now. Keep checking in and as always, thanks for stopping by.
Well, the Packard is about is far as I am going to take it for now due to a very busy schedule....1 car down and at least 4 more to go for the "San Francisco 1937" project. Heres the link to some renders in the forum...
In other news, my last day at the Orphanage was the Friday before last, however, my next contract kicks in with them in 3 months so in the mean time I have been knocking out school (finals are this week) in addition to working on a couple of commercials. I must say its very strange being home and working as opposed to at the studio after all of the crunching on Fantastic Four 2:Rise of the Silver Surfer. I am really looking forward to going back and working with everyone after the break. Last but not least Anna has been tearing it up on a few commercials herself and Roger's F-16 made it into the spring show last night which was great. Well, that about sums it up for now. Take care and as always thanks for stopping by.
