Siggraph Day 1

Oh yeah! Day 1. What can I say...Amazing. Last night we got in to Boston, tracked down Tom, Kristoff and Josh and headed over to the pub for some stella's. Good times. This morning we all crawled out of bed (I was feeling a little rough) and headed over to register for the event (we are actually staying right across the street from siggraph). The exhibit floor was ofcourse still under construction for tommorow's opening but we could see it through the glass and focourse it all looks amazing. Next we headed over to the Autodesk user group event and man was that shweeeeeeeet! Maya 8 was announced (it can be downloaded as of right now via download as a platinum user). They also awarded 3 new maya masters awards and added the award category to the max community as well. Last but not least they showed off some of the new Maya 8 features before kicking off the party (free unlimited food and alcohol for everyone that attended). Ok, I have more to talk about but I have to get to bed...Jason Scleifer's class at 0800 hours.

Siggraph is just around the corner!

The lemmings are coming! The lemmings are coming! No seriously, if you are serious (thats 2 "serious's" already) about 3D than you probably already have tickets. If your REALLY serious (3) about 3D then you probably are too busy making movies to go. LOL. Nevertheless its here. My wife and I are going with Roger and his girlfriend Carrie and man are we stoked! I was lucky enough to get a seat for Jason Schliefers come back special (Autodesk Rigging Masterclass). Better yet I will be sitting next to Tom Meade (friend/mentor). While it is kinda' hard on the wallet due to it being held in Boston this year, I am still excited nonetheless...ESPECIALLY since I have had a taste of the sweet nector at GKR (Giant Killer Robots). Ok, I am in my mel class and my teacher just walked in so I have to go. Seriously (4). Later!

LFmessenger v1.0

Ahhh yes...here it is in all its glory...my very first mel script..."LFmessenger v1.0. So what does it do you ask? Well, the LFmessenger mel script allows user's to send messages from inside of Maya to anyone within the studio/lab on a standard windows network. The cool thing is that the recipient does not need to have Maya running or installed to recieve messages sent from LFmessenger. I have already been testing it at work with a couple of buddies of mine and let me tell ya'...it works great! I am pretty excited. The script itself is now offered on Highend3D and ofcourse lives in the resources section here on my site, however, I have also created an LFmessenger thread within the new "Scripting" category inside of the forum! Thats right...a new category! You may have noticed that there is also a new "Texturing" category as well! Anyways, as for LFmessenger, I inlcuded a direct link to to the script and optional shelf button icon below...
