GKR, WORM, Birthday.

Well, my time with GKR is officially up. I love GKR and the fact that they let you specialize in multiple phases of the production. I will never forget the wonderful and talented people that I had the oppertunity to work with especially Adam. Speaking of which if you go to the MIMZY website you can see a shot that Adam and I worked on together. Its the one with the childs hands out in front of the camera while a bridge is being built. I did the planet earth/stars in the background (will be MUCH more aparent in the full shot of the film) and he did the galaxy in the sky as well as look developement for the bridge assembly. Lately I have been scrambling to catch up on all of my school work and...well...just life in general. Thanks to Brad's post in the forum I remembered to share some cool news with all of you....I recently found out that the WORM is being broadcasted through a partnership between the Academy of Art and Comcast for the month of December. Just go to Channel 888/ Entertainment /Animated Shorts. Pretty cool! In other news Tom's Book will be out shortly so start saving now so you can pick up a copy. Its called the Maya 8 Complete Reference. You can find it on Amazon already. The WORM is on the cover and will also be featured inside the book along with the Trolley. Last but not least I would like to thank all my buds for stopping out on my birthday. My wife sent out an evite to all the people she had emails for. We met in Golden Gate Park to take HDRI's with the new mirrored ball she got me for my birthday....I know...I know...I am a total geek. Anyways, I had a blast so thank you all for stopping by and thanks to my wife for organizing the whole event as well as for being the most wondferful/supportive person on the planet. Ok, thats all I got. Back to my finals.

Happy Bday man...Where was my e-vite, think I was free that day :)

Funny that you're still in school, keep forgetting that, has to be hard to focus huh?

The book's going well man, cool to all be working on a project together, even if we're in different time zones.

Cheers.

LOL! Nice. Yes, as nice as it was to work with Adam it was even NICER to work with Clint (the man who taught Adam everything he knows)...hehe. No seriously, for those of who dont know Clint, he is the MAN! He worked on films that we all grew up with...not that I am saying he is old...ahhh crap. Screw it. I am just diggin' myself deeper and deeper. Merry Cristmas, Happy New Year and all that jazz...jazz played on the clarinet ofcourse.

Hey, Landis.

I've been using blender for nearly a year now. I've only just found your work and I'm amazed. It shows what real dedication can achieve. Are you still working on your Airman? Will there be an animation? It's good that you're getting recognized and appreciated.

An impressed fan,
Dave.

Dave,

Congrats on choosing Blender. Smart choice. I think open source is the future...or lets put it this way...open source has a future. LOL. I love Maya with a passion but there is always that fear of the company of software "x" making a couple of bad decisions here and there and poof...gone. But hey, you always have to learn new software right. That will always be a part of this career and its one of the parts that helps keep it interesting and fresh. Anyways, I cant wait to see some of your work. I know that the majority (if not all) all of the posts in the forum are from Maya users but you should share your Blender work with all of us in the forum. Art is art. Feedback is feedback. As for the Airman, yes I am still working on it here and there. Roger is doing the F-16 for the project and its turning out pretty nice. Shannon is waiting for me to come up with something so he can tear it up as well but I need to flesh out the story a bit more first. As of right now I can gurantee that there will be the Airman and an F-16 regardless so thats what has the green light for now in terms of production, everything else will be dependent upon the needs of the story. So yeah, there will definately be animation eventually. I will keep you posted. Take care and thanks for stopping by Dave. Now go to the forum and post some of your work! LOL.

Myung,

Yeah, I pretty much have one more semester after this one. Becuase of work I dont spend much time in the labs anymore, however, I have gotten alot more out of working with experienced professionals as wellas out of dailies then I would being in the labs so I dont miss it all that much. But I know what you mean, I miss all of us getting up out of our chairs later at night in the labs for a coffee run. It funny becuase we would all just be sitting there...some next to one another and some scattered throughout the labs and we wouldnt say aword to one another for 5 hours at a time until somone brought up food or coffee and then we would all rub our eyes and lean back in the chairs. LOL. Awesome.
