Heres a turntable of the apple as of right now.
Click here for Apple Video (800 kb, MPEG 4).
I plan to tweak the lighting a bit more however my focus is currently on rigging and animation. As always keep checkin' in...more to come soon!

Woah, cool! I really like it. The leaf looks just a tad too bright though. But great job! Way better than what I can do. =P
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I TOTALLY agree about the leaf...and it seals the deal after hearing it from someone else! Thanks a million. Basically the leaf is about half as bright but it got tangled into some of the post pro suff I did to the apple making it a little too blown out. Thanks for the critique man it means alot. I have been checkin' up on your site. Hows the Maya fundamental classes coming along? The graph editor is pretty powerful dont ya' think? Once you get the hang of working with curves (breaking tangents, etc.) you really see how that little window alone can make or break your animations. Its the reason why computer animation looks so damn floaty and smooth...bah! If you get the chance check out Keith Lango's site...he has a couple of great tutorials that discuss working with curves that may come in handy to you since your covering it in class right now.
Looks awesome, seiously. I agree that the leaf is s bit too incandescent or something, it looks too thin. I think if you darken it, it won't look so transparent and thus so paper thin. Did you use an Occlusion pass on the apple for the top inner fold area?
Thanks slippy! I am rendering out a sub surface scatter test of the leaf now to se if I can fix some of the problem. At this point I have the rest of the apple looking how I want straight out of the render which doesnt happen very often, however, the leaf is still a bit bright. I should have it all figured out by tonite so keep checking in. As for the occlusion pass yes, and I have the HDR running nicely now as well. The next post should be dramatically better. Thanks for the feedback (and all the secret help over the phone as well...shhhhh).
