WORM Shaded Render and Beast!

Ok, here is a smooth shaded render of Inch with the eyes being the only thing that is currently textured...

Click here for a shaded render of Inch.

As of right now the skin is just a flat green color since I am still painting the textures as you read this, however, when he is finished he will be very organic looking much like a frog or a lizard mixed with a tropical leaf. Also, his mouth is open because at this stage he needs to have a default pose that will later be "rigged" for animation using a skeleton. And last but certainly not least, Beast is back up on the server and can be downloaded from the resources section.

WORM (inch) Topology...

Ok, here is look at Inch's topology (the way the lines of the model flow)...

More to come soon. I am still working out some bugs here and there for the texture mapping but I promise I will post something as soon as possible.

WORM Sneeeek Peek!

Did I not say I would deliver?! Heres a behind the scenes look at some of the texturing work that has gone into Inch...

Click here for a test render of Inch.

For those of you who are a little rusty on the whole "3D" thing, basically I am at the stage where I have told the computer where materials SHOULD be applied to the character and to test this I wrap a special image around the model to check for any warping or distortion that may occur when coloring the Worm. This special texture that I made is easy to read since it is not only numbered but is color coded as well which makes it very easy to pin point any problems on the model itself. If you are interested in this texture it can be downloaded from the resources section.

TONS of progress!

Man what can I say....I have made some strides since my last post. First off, for christmas I took all the gift cards, money, etc. and stocked up on some training material (books)...thanks to my wife, my dad, my grandparents, and my sis! Roger gave me a heads up about the whole Amazon thing being ligit so I went that route witht he dough which allowed me to get 8 books instead of 3! Most of them are on rigging and animation but I threw in a couple lighting and rendering books as well. Needless to say I am pretty excited for them to show up, so, I have been very busy getting the gang (Worms) up to speed so everyone is ready when the mail man shows up. As of right now Inch is done and Wiggly is at about 95%. Next I will move on to texturing and then the props (mainly the apple) will go into production (modeling, texturing, etc.). Once I get that out of the way I will be focusing on the environmentin addition to polishing up the storyboards (for a glimpse of what the movie will be like refer to the pencil test version of the WORM in the animation section). For those of you who are keeping tabs on all of this I will be posting a sneeek peek link here in the diary to inch some time later today. Anyways, take care and thanks for following my progress.

Site fixes!

I figured that it was about time I fixed a couple of bugs on the site. First off, for now on when you click on an image or animation the page wont scroll back up to the top...this way you dont lose track of where you were. Second, on some browsers when clicking on an image or animation multiple windows would open but not anymore.

Well, thats about it....back to modeling (working on Wiggly right now).

2 updates in 1 day!

Hello again! I just finished uploading another update to the traditional section... my final sculpture for my intro to figure modeling class. Also, I realise that I am building a bit of a stock pile in the traditional and animation sections, so, to make it a little easier on all of you I inserted a link at the bottom of each page that will take you back to the top so that you dont have to scroll all the way back up again. Anywyas, take care and as always keep checking in!

"A"s so far and more animation!

Hey folks! So far I have "A"s in 3 of my classes I attended this semester! Havent got the word on the other 2 classes yet so keep your fingers crossed. As far as the winter show is concerned it went great! It was really neat to see people I didnt know looking at my work. Also, now that classes are over I have been getting a head start on animating in Maya! After reading and reading on all the mumbo jumbo that goes into 3D animation I thought I would take a stab at a bouncing ball so that I would be familiar with the tools when it comes time to take the classes. Anyways it turned out pretty good. It was alot of fun to apply my traditional training from the summer to 3D. Feel free to check it out over in the animation section.

Acting class...

I just got out of my acting class and I must say it really went great today. A buddy of mine did an impression of me in front of the class and in return I did one of him. It was great. I also was fortunate enough to totally bomb a skit with another friend of mine so we were asked to do it again and with a different approach to the ending. At first I was dissapointed regarding our first performance but he and I both learned so much from it. Well, thats all I got...just thought I would share that with all of you....I know, I know...horrible story and no image updates....bah! I should have something soon...just waiting to get em' back from the winter show (I submitted a couple of pieces to the Academy student art exhibit). Wish me luck.
